○ 초록
This study was conducted to investigate the antioxidant activity and moisturizing effect of Calystegia solderanella L. adventitious root(CS-AR) by treating methyl jasmonate(MJ), which is one of the strategies to increase the content of useful substances in plant culture, to confirm its potential as a cosmetic ingredient. As a result, the most effective DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activities were observed in CS-AR treated with 50 μM MJ.In addition, 50 μM MJ-treated CS-AR induced the scavenging of reactive oxygen species and significantly increased hyaluronic acid production in human keratinocytes(HaCaT). Considering these characteristics, quantification of biologically active compounds is very important, and therefore marker compounds were identified by HPLC. As a result, 3,5-Dicaffeoylquinic acid was determined as major compound in MJ50-treated CS-AR ethanol extract followed by Skimmin. These results suggest that Calystegia soldanella L. adventitious root has potential as a cosmetic ingredient resource, and further studies are needed on the relationship between the biological activity of methyl jasmonate and standard compounds in plant cell line cultures.
